Additional The Witcher Information

Set in a world created by best-selling Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher combines spectacular action and an intriguing storyline. You are a Witcher, a warrior who has been trained to fight since childhood, subjected to mutations and trials that have transformed you. You earn a living killing monsters, and are a member of a brotherhood founded long ago to protect people from werewolves, the undead, and a host of other beasts.

What Customers Say About The Witcher:

The game quests are generally well written, interesting and immersive. More than any other game that I have experienced, the Witcher actually makes you feel as if you are the main character. You feel that you are part of the game world with every conversation or choice you make. You are faced with difficult decisions during the game that affect the plot line.

The Witcher suffers from many problems: high system requirements, long load times, a poor camera, an anemic skill system, a small and quickly cluttered inventory, a combat system that one either likes or hates (I fall into the hate camp), a lack of feeling character advancement, and the list goes on. In the role playing aspect the developers have completely succeeded, and if there is any reason to play this game, it is for the role-playing. You actually find yourself liking or hating NPCs and caring about what happens to them. There are also traditional RPG aspects (such as interesting skill tree advancement and robust item collecting/upgrading) that are woefully limited in this game. However, for all its shortcomings, the Witcher does one thing extremely well: role-playing.

Your choices do have consequences. If you can ignore its many shortcomings and technical problems, you just might enjoy the Witcher. It is the role-playing aspect of this game that sets the Witcher apart, and I mean that in a positive way. Everything from your look to your skills to the cut scenes and NPC interaction immerses you into that character.

If you like overly tedious combat systems with poor animations this is a good game for you, otherwise steer clear. I'm glad I only paid 8 dollars for it, if you were one of the few unfortunate enough to spend 50 dollars on this pile of crap I mourn for your loss. Any game that has an entire forum full of "HELP TAGES SAYS MY DISK IS NOT ORIGINAL" and topics like "My friends pirated copy of the game is running" should not even be bothered with, It's tedious and unenjoyable to begin with having to go through all this trouble just to play it is ridiculous.

This game is awful. I had to delete my Adapti system file after editing registry files for an hour and disabling my virtual drives, no game should be this restrictive on your computer's hardware, or software for that matter, what was the point of the registration code in the box if it still didn't let me play after i entered it. Let me start off by saying that I did play this game for several hours in hope that it would get better, but after seeing the manual and all the other crap i had to go through to get the game to work in the first place, I was severely disappointed.

It took me 6 hours to get this game to run and the average user wouldn't have known how to fix this. I've heard people praising this game for it's depth, but honestly the only depth is has is the alchemy system which takes a degree in Chemistry to even begin to understand immediately. THe graphics may be amazing the the engine is not efficient, there's no reason why these visuals couldn't run on slower machines like cards from the Geforce 7 series.

The games Antipiracy protection did little to prevent anything but people being able to enjoy their legitimate copy of the game.

I wish magic is more emphasized, but the fire sign is still pretty cool. First, I want to mention that I am not a harsh game critic. I recommend. The story is interesting and there are plenty of side quests to keep you busy. This game is unlike any other game I've played. The battle system is intriguing, and the use of potions adds complexity to the game.

I do have to say that you should save some money and buy this version instead of the enhanced, because you can download the extra content for free from atari Good value, good game. This is a very fun RPG. I've been enjoying thisw for awhile now, and just can't get enough.even playing this instead of World of Warcraft and Warhammer online.

However after a while i did finally start losing interest in the game and never finished playing it but hey I was diagnosed with A.D.D. I absolutly loved this game. Over all tho def recommend it. as a kid so who knows. It starts you out with a long cutscene that given the right grapics cards was just crazy cool. That dragged me in and the story line and gameplay both rocked.
